Is it possible to get a gun licence in Mauritius?

I understand that it's illegal to possess a gun without a licence. So can a normal person apply to get a firearm licence? Under what circumstances can you get one and what documents do you need to produce?

Yes, of course, you need a permit from the police headquarters to be legally in possession of a gun, but I'm not sure about the documents, I will check them out and come back to you.

Long time ago, you could get a gun licence if you had a large plot of land and was living on it. It would be for your safety first and foremost but you would only be allowed to shoot someone in the leg if they trespass your property. Sugarcane planters used to have one for their protection. I don't think this is the case these days though.

I don't think there are any because even paintball is considered illegal in Mauritius.

Hey morinn, welcome to Clever Dodo!

Are you after any specific kind of shooting class such as clay shooting?

The best I found contains all the documents and where one can 'train' to shoot.
