Where are good hiking and trekking places in Mauritius?

I know Le Pouce is a good one but where else can we find beautiful scenery that will make our jaws drop?

They are lots of beautiful places around the island. Here are a few:

  • Tamarind falls
  • Black River Gorges
  • Bras d'eau (Roches Noires)
  • Domaine de l'Etoile
  • Domaine des 7 Vallées (formerly Domaine du Chasseur)
  • Vallée de Ferney

Some of the above places are privately owned and therefore you would need to pay an excursion fee to hike or trek there.

You also have the Dogeh trail in Port Louis or even la citadelle, else you have a number of nature reserves all over the island or you can even try out some old battered paths to mountains but make sure that you have your compass on you :)
